Turn on inheritance for a collection and assign heirs item by item, each with an inheritance note — the story, the condition, the wish. It is a quiet feature with a large purpose: clarity, written down while writing it down is easy.

Why plan ahead?
Because someone will eventually stand in front of your things and have to guess. A shared inventory means the household already knows what exists and what it is worth; assigned heirs and notes mean the hardest conversations are already half-had. It is a kindness that costs minutes.

How do I share a collection?
Invite by email from the collection’s settings. The other person needs an iTems account; they see the collection on their next sync.
What can a member do?
That is up to you: read only, or can edit items. Collection settings, sharing and deletion always stay with the owner.
Can I change or revoke access later?
Yes — permissions can be adjusted or removed at any time, and members can also leave a collection themselves.
Does a shared collection cost the member anything?
No — collections shared with you never count against your own collection limit, whatever plan you are on.
Is sharing free?
Sharing and inheritance planning are part of iTems PRO for the collection owner. Receiving and using a shared collection is free.
