Rooms and components

Recreate your home room by room, and register components — from paint colors to appliances — with the details that matter.

Property collections

A property collection describes your home the way it is built: rooms give every part of the house a place, and components record what each part actually is.

Rooms

Add the rooms your home has — kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, living room, hallway, garage and more — with floor and size if you want the details. Each room collects its own components, so “the bathroom” eventually tells the story of its own tiles, plumbing and ventilation.

Components

Components are the parts the house is made of, registered in the room where they sit. iTems organizes them in categories that cover a home: paint and surfaces, flooring, windows, doors, roof, facade, ventilation, heating, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, appliances, fixed furnishing, outdoor — and other, for everything else.

Every component takes make, model, serial number, store and purchase date. The category adds fields worth recording for exactly that kind of component — the paint code and sheen for a wall, dimensions for a window, filter size for ventilation.

Product images

With iTems Pro, iTems can look up a product image for a component automatically, so the component list becomes a visual record of the house.

Do I have to use rooms?

Rooms are what make the record useful later — “which paint is on the living-room wall” needs a living room. But you can start flat and organize into rooms as you go.

Can I move a component to another room?

Yes — a component’s room is just a field on it. Edit the component and pick a different room.
